Playing to Win
Sams Trakl looked at the screen of his handheld.
“A winner is you!”, it said in a blocky font. Well, not literally, but that’s what it meant anyway. Another game beaten, another bunch of hours down the drain. Strangely unfilling these days, he thought.
As the boy looked up from his portable console, he blinked briefly. When his eyes opened again, they were filled with a void full of stars. Then he first saw it. When he would later reminisce about this sudden revelation, he would always wonder how he could not have seen it before. It was always there, before his eyes. It was so obvious!
